Yep you read the headline correctly.....we had to go back to the doctor today. Caraline woke up this morning with a high fever so I booked a sub for my class and stayed home with her. I took advantage of my pediatricians "walk in hour" from 7:00 to 8:00 (by the way I love having that option so I don't have to fight for an appointment) and explained to them that I didn't feel she had gotten any better since our last visit 4 days ago. They checked her ears and the doctor said that her ears looked worse than they did on Saturday's visit. They explained that she has more than likely built up a resistance to Omnicef and will need a different prescription from now on. That is pretty scary to me that a 19 month old has already built up a resistance to an antibiotic. They also mentioned that if these ear infections continue that we would have to look into having tubes placed in her ears.
The sad part is that Caraline had to get a shot of Rocephin (strong antibiotic) which is a pretty painful shot. We were also given another prescription for Ogmitten. I am hoping that the shot and new prescription will help Caraline get better quickly.
