I have finally found a few minutes to blog. It is harder to blog than I thought it would be. So bare with me as I am trying to keep everyone caught up.
As many of you know Jackson was born on July 22nd and we had a pretty normal delivery. The only complication we had was that he kept flipping face up instead of face down. Dr. Dunn had to end up using suction to get him out. Once he was born we know why....he was so big! He was the biggest baby in the nursery while we were there!
While in the hospital we had several visitors. We enjoyed seeing everyone and it made the time pass by quickly. Jackson did great while we were in the hospital. He seemed to be feeding great and only lost a couple of ounces. When we left he weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces (Caraline's exact weight when she was born). It wasn't until we got home that we started having trouble feeding. The first day home I couldn't get Jackson to latch on. He cried all night long and refused to nurse. It was very hard for Jason and I because we didn't know what was wrong. As I watched him cry I noticed that his tongue was completely attached to the bottom of his mouth. He was "tongue tied" and unable to suck. The next morning we took him to the doctor and they preformed a minor surgery on him and clipped his tongue. While we were there he weighed 8 pounds, so he had lost over a pound since he was born. His doctor referred us to a lactation specialist to look at his tongue and decide what we should do about feeding. To make a long story short he has healed up and is now breast feeding just fine. He is gaining weight and eating like a champ! Other than his tongue, he was perfect. He was in the 50th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. We hope that he is back up to his birth weight when we go back for his 2 week checkup.
He is such a good baby so far (knock on wood!). He only cries when his is wet or hungry. He does have his day and nights confused and we are hoping to correct that as soon as possible. Below I am posting a slide show of the cute pictures I have taken so far.
